Melania Trump Announces New Fashion Line of Jackets With Phrases On Them

WASHINGTON, D.C. — First Lady Melania Trump ruffled feathers when she showed up unannounced to visit a child detention center near the southern U.S. border wearing a green jacket that read, “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?”

After spending a couple of weeks away from the public eye recovering, the White House said, from a medical operation, Mrs. Trump flew down to a facility in Texas that had been receiving the minor children of undocumented migrants who entered the United States. The policy of child separation has come under intense scrutiny and criticism from all over the country, even the world. Both Democrats and Republicans have roundly rejected the practice as a cruel and unnecessary attempt to discourage illegal immigration.

Yesterday, after days of punishing and withering criticism from all corners, Mr. Trump signed an executive order halting the practice his administration began at the behest of Attorney General Jeff Sessions in May. However, there’s still no sign of a plan to reunite children with their families. Estimates of the number of children taken into custody of the U.S. government reach into the thousands.

It may have seemed like at the very least an extremely tone deaf jacket to wear, considering she was visiting children who had been forcibly removed their parents as they crossed the border illegally. However, word from the White House is that Mrs. Trump was actually just giving Americans a preview of her new line of jackets emblazoned with various phrases on them.

“All the proceeds will go to charity, in fact, the best charity ever, our favorite charity,” President Trump told reporters this morning. “And that charity is — The Trump Family.”

The First Lady released a set of photos previewing her line of jackets, and we have published them in the gallery, below.
