WASHINGTON, D.C. — Texts and emails turned over to the January 6th Congressional Committee by former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows indicate that he made certain assurances to people within his former boss’s administration before an attempted coup on behalf of his former boss was carried out.
In the messages, former Congresbirther Meadows promises various people within the administration that they, and his boss’s angry mob, would get protection from the National Guard on that fateful day. In one striking email, Meadows promises some pro-MAGA members of a right-wing militia group that they will be “given the full and complete endorsement and protection” of the National Guard as they stormed the capitol.

“Jethro, I can assure with all the certainty in the world that on January 6th, as your brave diabetic forces ransack the House, the National Guard will protect pro-toothless incestuous racism people. To the bitter end. You will be safe, Patriots,” Meadows wrote to Jethro Bohiggins, who calls himself the Lt. General Colonel of the Fourteenth Militia Battalion of Cold Cave Hills, Tennessee.
Bohiggins is a right-wing podcaster and social media influencer. Jethro was one of hundreds of pro-Trump Americans who tried to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Bohiggins and Meadows sent several texts to one another in the weeks leading up to the failed insurrection.
“Mr. Bohiggins, it is my great honor to welcome you to the MAGA Militia! We are confident our coup will be as successful as our Dear President was in keeping a casino afloat, and are grateful for your pledged loyalty. The National Guard will be there for you, and for every inbred son and daughter of the confederacy that glorious day, as we truly make sure the South does indeed rise again,” Meadows told Bohiggins.
The January 6th Committee voted unanimously yesterday to hold Meadows in criminal contempt of Congress for not responding to their subpoena. Meadows has filed suit against the committee, but no hearing date has been set as of yet.
