Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. It’s a day in which solemn tributes to the victims of Adolf Hitler’s genocidal rampage during World War II are made all over the globe. Not wanting to be left out of the festivities, freshman Congressman George Santos (Q-NY) used the day to pay tribute in a very personal way.
“As you all know, my mom died on 9/11. But before that, she died at Auschwitz. In fact, all six million of my moms died in that horrible place, and it’s today, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, that I honor their loss and sacrifice,” Santos said, holding a candle as he lit it. “It’s hard for me to communicate just how deeply I feel the loss of all six million of my mothers on a day like today, but I think I have a way to at least try.”
Santos then pulled a book out of his jacket pocket, and showed it to the reporters assembled in front of him.
“This is a diary, written by my mother, Anne Frank, about her experience during this time. She wrote while she was literally hiding from the Nazis,” Santos said, “and I’m guessing that, like today, Nazis were Democrats, because you know, they started the KKK or whatever it is I’m supposed to say as a Republican about Nazis to never have to square with the fact that they were a far right organization, and so is the GOP.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA) said on Fox News that she was so moved by Santos’ tribute, she decided to point her Secret Jewish Space laser into the cosmos, in tribute to his six million mothers.
