Musk Asked SNL to Bring on Babylon Bee Writers So Show Can Be One, Never-Ending Gender Identification Joke

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — If billionaires are known for anything, it’s their natural charm, charisma, and comedic timing. Hence, it makes complete sense why the producers of Saturday Night Live would skip over actual comedians and performers to ask Elon Musk to host this weekend’s episode.

Apparently, after accepting the gig, Musk asked SNL producer Lorne Michaels to do him a personal favor. Musk wanted Michaels to hire The Babylon Bee’s writing staff and turn over the content creation for the episode to them. Musk is a big fan of The Babylon Bee’s brand of caustic Christofacism masquerading as satire, and apparently wanted to help give its staff a chance to showcase what they claim to be their comedic talents.

“Even before he’d gotten off the phone with Lorne, Elon had asked him about hiring some people from The Babylon Bee for the purposes of just one week,” one insider told us on the condition of anonymity. “Apparently, Musk had been talking to the Bee guys about making the entire episode one long, non-stop joke about gender identification. Since, you know, that’s the only joke they know.”

While Michaels politely rebuffed Mr. Musk’s request, that didn’t stop the billionaire from putting the “hard sell” on the icon of showbiz production.

“Elon really thinks that the country is pining for comedy that depends on the person who wrote the joke, and its intended audience, fundamentally not understanding science,” our source said. “Lorne did briefly consider the idea, just to give the regular writing staff some much-needed time off, but ultimately decided he’d still like only actual comedians and comedy writers doing the actual writing on his comedy show that produces real comedy, and not Christian bullying and hate speech.”

For what it’s worth, though, the Bee’s staff is apparently still ready, willing, and able to help out.

“When Elon called and asked us if we’d be interested in doing the show with him, we opened up our joke library, where we keep all our unused material,” Kyle Mann, editor-in-chief of the Bee told us in an email exchange, “but found that we’d be better off writing all-new versions of the same joke we recycle over and over again. The good news is that even though we won’t be using them on SNL this weekend, now we have enough material to last us another five years.”

Mann said he’s “grateful” that conservatives remain unfamiliar with how comedy works and that they believe nothing stops being funny, no matter how many times you repeat it.
