“Speaker McCarthy is just getting a little sick and tired of all the Poorsy McGees out there putting their hands out instead of putting their signatures on job applications.” – Speaker McCarthy’s Office
Alleged Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is locked in tense negotiations with the Biden administration over the debt ceiling. The crux of the issue is that Mr. McCarthy believes already cash-strapped poor people should pay for the decision he and his fellow Republicans made to let Donald Trump rack up hundreds of billions of dollars in debt, or America should simply default on those debts.
Today, McCarthy appeared on Fox News and doubled-down on his insistence that the debt ceiling can’t be raised unless there are cuts to social safety net programs. During one of his long-winded, nasally answers, McCarthy insisted that most poor people aren’t even willing to pretend to work, like he is. We spoke to Carl Flatulentz from McCarthy’s press office about that appearance today.

“Speaker McCarthy is just getting a little sick and tired of all the Poorsy McGees out there putting their hands out instead of putting their signatures on job applications. Despite the fact that unemployment is so low it proves that people aren’t just sitting around collecting government paychecks, we know how important it is to the Republican Party that ignorant Americans believe it’s happening, so the speaker just wants to make sure that message is amplified,” Mr. Flatulentz explained.
“At the end of the day, he just thinks if he can pretend to work for his six-figure salary, the least these unwashed takers can do is pretend to work for the literal scraps we barely let them have.”
