WASHINGTON, D.C. — This morning, the White House once again waded into the controversy over a jacket that First Lady Melania Trump wore while visiting detained, undocumented migrant children in Texas this week.
The jacket, green and long, was adorned with a phrase that the president would later say was directed at the “fake news” but that many questioned as being in particularly bad taste, considering she was going to visit children who had been pulled away by force from their parents. The message said, “I REALLY DON’T CARE. DO U?” Despite Mrs. Trump’s people insisting there was nothing to the fashion choice, her husband and alleged billionaire had to take to Twitter to stir the controversy as has been his wont since taking office.

Apparently, though, the administration has sensed that outrage among the public over their child separation policy hasn’t died down. Despite ending the policy via an executive order, Trump and his team continue to take heat, even when they go out in public. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her party were tossed out of a Virginia restaurant because the owner objected to the immigration and other policies of the administration.
Ms. Huckabee Sanders took to Twitter to give her side of the story.

With tempers still flaring over the child separation policy, President Trump apparently took it upon himself to craft yet one more explanation for Melania’s jacket.
“All this anger over Melanie’s jacket is just fake news covfefe worse than the Bowling Green cover up,” Trump tweeted Saturday morning. “The bottom line is that Melanie’s jacket was simply issuing orders to my subjects — excuse me — supporters.”

Trump explained that the jacket’s phrase was meant to remind his base that they should “absolutely not care about brown families more than pure, clean, beautiful white ones.”
“Sometimes we have to remind our base to resist the temptations of human compassion and empathy,” Trump said in a tweet that many believed he didn’t write because of the use of words like “compassion” and “empathy.”
