If you are even the slightest bit tethered to reality, news that the Obama Administration has made a historic diplomatic breakthrough with Cuba is most welcome and surprising. No one with any legitimacy really believed the embargo put on Cuba by the U.S. is doing any good, is prudent in the post-Cold War era, or makes really any much fucking sense at all, really. Obama and his administration making this historical breakthrough with the Cuban government might very well usher in a new era of cooperation between the two countries. Though the embargo stands, it’s only going to be a matter of time before it dies, whether with huge fanfare or just by nature of the warming of the two nations’ spirits toward each other.
Then again, Republicans.
